Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Feb 19, 2017 – Feb 25, 2017:

We start the week on Sunday with the 3rd quarter moon in Sagittarius, applying to a square to Neptune and a trine to Venus. The 3rd quarter moon is linked to career, reputation and outward appearances, among other things.

With it moving through the affable and gregarious sign of Sagittarius, you might feel like spending time with those who make you feel good about yourself, rather than those who drag you down. The Moon in Sagittarius is expansive and spirited, with a strong focus on personal and spiritual evolution.

This energy is more pronounced with the trine to Venus, although the square to Neptune can create some problems. The trine to Venus is all about cooperation and collaboration with others. But don’t let yourself be led astray: the Moon / Neptune square can be exceptionally naive or gullible, and prone to self-deception.

This energy continues into Monday, with the Moon still in Sagittarius, and trining both Mars and Uranus and sextiling both Mercury and Jupiter, before it conjuncts Saturn late in the day.  These aspects are all relatively auspicious, especially with regards to your interactions with others.

This is a good time to iron out your differences with those for whom you may not always see eye to eye. While the Moon in Sagittarius is known for being direct, this series of aspects is more about understanding differences of opinions than it does forcing your views on others. It’s also a good time to think about where you’re heading in your own evolutionary process and what steps you can take to facilitate growth.

Mercury sextiles Uranus and trines Jupiter on Tuesday. As these two planets are currently in opposition, the Mercury transit couldn’t come at a better time. With political and religious tensions (Uranus opposite Jupiter) on the rise, Mercury can act as a bit of a buffer (if not a facilitator) toward compromise.

The sextile to Uranus is great for brainstorming and thinking outside the box, especially as Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. With Mercury in Aquarius (the sign of its exaltation), this transit brings insight and awareness to the surface. It’s all about innovation progress and change. Radical ideas and flashes of brilliance.

Both of these planets are moving through innovative signs. And because the sextile links them together harmoniously, you can take advantage of this configuration by tapping into your own creative genius. It’s an excellent transit for negotiating change, especially with respect to group activities and community or humanitarian efforts.

The trine to Jupiter is also a positive aspect, as Mercury and Jupiter are a natural planetary pair. Here we have two natural polarities — the natural rulers of the 3rd and 9th houses — joined together in harmony. We have Mercury — the planet associated with communications and ideas — trining Jupiter — the planet associated with benevolence, good will and generosity.

Among many other things, this transit is good for opening your heart to those you love and expressing appreciation and gratitude for all that you have. It’s good for coming together with others and celebrating your allegiances while honoring and accepting your differences. It’s a time for feeling inspired and optimistic about the future.

Also on Tuesday,  the Sun conjuncts the South Node. This aspect automatically opposes the North Node and suggests that people you encounter during this time will challenge you to grow karmically, either because of past life ties or because they are facilitators this time around for whatever karmic lessons you’re facing.

On Wednesday, Mars squares Pluto. This can be a  highly volatile aspect, especially as the Moon in Capricorn joins in a conjuncts Pluto later in the day. The Mars / Pluto square can be aggressive and combative.

It can be a “shoot first and ask questions later” transit. It can manifest as power struggles and hidden resentments that boil the surface when you least expect it. Find a physical outlet for your frustrations if you don’t want them to come at you from the outside. Martial arts is a good option, or any other type of strenuous exercise.

While Mars and Pluto in hard aspect can manifest as explosive displays of anger and irrational behavior, fortunately there’s a Mercury / Saturn sextile on Thursday (also helped along by the Moon — in this case a semi-sextile to each) that alleviates some of that tension.

Mercury and Saturn in sextile is sextile is good for making plans or ironing out important details. As Mercury is in Aquarius and Saturn is in Sagittarius, you could be taking a more serious look at not only what you believe in (Sagittarius), but how you can make the world a better place (Aquarius). Both of these signs are big on freedom and independence, and both are strong on dedicating themselves to standing up for what they believe in.

Mercury moves into Pisces on Saturday. This is not the most comfortable placement for Mercury, as its debilitated in Pisces and therefore said to be weakened in this sign. But that doesn’t mean it’s without merit:

Mercury in Pisces is visionary, mystical and ethereal. It is very perceptive and should have you feeling more introspective and intuitive. But it’s also gullible and highly impressionable so make sure you get your facts straight before you race off down any rabbit holes.

This signature is not big on being explicit, facing reality or paying attention to details. And you find yourself being easily distracted and going off on wild tangents during this time. But the upside of a Mercury in Pisces transit is that it reminds us that we’re all floundering in the same vast ocean together, with most of us doing the best that we can. It increases compassion, sensitivity and empathy and makes us all just a little easier to get along with.

That’s it for this week, see you next week!
